Dalek Stainly by Chrisofedf

So... This happened! Defiantly one of the highlights of this year. I got to design a new Dalek for Big Finish. How cool is that!? And here is something even weirder, I heavily redesigned a Dalek and the fandom actually liked it.

Admittedly, that is probably more down to the fact that it is a one off medieval stylised creation and also its stain glass and quite ornamental, but still, very pleased with Simon Holubs cover and how its been recieved. I'll put a better picture in the main section later.

In a weird twist, the overwhelming positive response to Dalek Stainly (Our little injoke name) has made me start thinking about the Gerry Anderson fandom which i'm heavily involved in.

I have helped run the Fanderson Facebook group for the last 4 years and for the last 3 months I have co run the social media presence for Anderson Entertainment. Particularly of late it is starting to feel like an uphill struggle keeping people happy. Gerry himself was quite fond of saying "you can't keep everyone happy, just try to aim for most people." At the minute its starting to feel like no-one. If it wasn't my job i'd probably give it a break.

I kind of went into this knowing it's a barely functioning broken fanbase of people, who most of which are over 50. it's full of egos, old fueds, elitists and simply people who can't let go of nostalgia, so anything new is simply terrible.

I've been working with a team of awesome people on various projects who are committed to keeping the old style adventure of Ga's shows alive. We are producing some really cool stuff based on classic shows and brand new concepts. I just hope people check it out when it comes out and just don't bury their head in the sand because its not Thunderbirds...

If there is a moral to this ramble, I guess it's just keep making cool things and try not to let negative people drag you down.

As someone who has been a fan of many different movies, and TV shows, and sci-fi writers, thoughout my life, I find it unsettling sometimes to come across someone who is a fan of just one thing.
