T-shirt designs. by Chrisofedf T-shirt designs. by Chrisofedf
UPDATE! 1 is now available through the official Gerry Anderson website: www.gerryanderson.co.uk/produc…

And now for something completely different :)
I was invited by the awesome guys at Anderson Entertainment to design some T-shirts based on Anderson properties that can be sold at the upcoming convention and online, with the simple instructions of a max of 3 colours and none of the iconography (to keep ITV happy).
Here are the designs announced by "Official Gerry Anderson" on Facebook. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…

A huge aspect of the current marketing around Gerry's old shows, Thunderbirds in particular, is based mainly on Nostalgia and will mostly use the same, often reused publicity images from the style guide. The recent "Ive got Brains" campaign illustrates my point. www.fanderson.org.uk/news/itv-… Alternatively, they'l try and treat it is as a brand and focus on the Name Thunderbirds more than the actual content.

Trying to get away from that, I took inspiration from the kind of thing Titan merchandise would design, relying heavily on emblems. Another popular successful example is that Thundercats T-shirt that HMV has been selling since ever.

I obviously couldn't use the IR logo itself so I designed my own, something individual but recognisable, I used the 3 base colours of each Thunderbird (and a darker T shirt under-layer) to help insinuate each Thunderbird and of course an obligatory quote from Jeff Tracy. At the beginning of TB6 Jeff gives a run down of all 5 Thunderbirds and this seemed perfect to base the set on. Each design is different to reflect the Thunderbird and what it does. As they go on I start dropping in episode references and things :)

What this hopefully amounts to is a cool neutral design, that can work for any incarnation of Thunderbirds you want it to be. :)

Let me know what you think :) it would be awesome if we get enough interest to complete the set!

Is the teapot a reference to Lady P or Bertrand Russell?

Nifty! I like the concept. Given them (and you) a plug on downthetubes: downthetubes.net/?p=14093. Hope that's OK.

Hi Chris,

These are very good designs, well done. Maybe if you could release these for long sleeve tops as well? Also, I'd really like to get some of these for my boys (9, 6 and 5).

I really think it's time for some updated TB merchandise; across a range of product types.

Hi
I think we're just concentrating on the T shirts for now, there isn't really a very big budget and we need to gauge what demand there is for them.

I do have some ideas for other things though :) .
